Monday Feb 05, 2018
Rashaad King
Rashaad King is an American screenwriter, film and television producer, actor, author, activist, speaker, talk show host and entrepreneur. He is best known for Conversations for a Change and Fear Thyself. He is the founder of Lifeline Creative Industries, an entertainment and lifestyle company based out of Los Angeles. From Atlanta, Georgia, he began his entertainment career at the young age of 19 when he wrote, produced and directed his first project, A Dream Deferred, a short film loosely based on his failed childhood aspirations of growing up to become a preacher.
After working on A Dream Deferred, Rashaad went on and worked on many different projects in several production and talent roles in film, theater and television. These roles included production assistant, casting director, boom operator, camera operator for the Emmy Award winning television broadcast Taking Authority and as an uncredited 2 nd AD on feature film Truth Seekers. Since being in the industry since 2008, Rashaad met lots of people in the entertainment industry and continued to meet people that were in need of representation.
So in 2011 he launched Lifeline Talent Management, a boutique talent management firm in which he represented actors, singers, music executives and other talent. He did this while launching Lifeline Creative Radio in 2012, in which he was host and producer. This was the beginning of the Lifeline Creative Brands. In 2013, Rashaad released his first book, an e-book, A Black Man’s Blues Volume 1: The Introduction, a personal collection of his artistic works which featured themes of fatherlessness and discrimination of Black men. He also became an Ambassador for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and began partnering with entertainment companies and organizations such as Paramount Pictures and Values Partnerships on different film campaigns and initiatives.
He has worked directly with Oprah Winfrey organizing marketing efforts for a number of films including the 2014 film, Selma, and the 2016 film, 13 th , both directed by Ava DuVernay. After seeing the film Selma three times before it was released nationally, Rashaad was moved internally and the activist within that had long been put to sleep was revived. In a matter of days, he co-created the civil rights initiative OurTurn365 with entrepreneurs Tierra Destiny Reid, Felisha Renae, Renita Bryant and actress Kaira Akita. As a result of this concept, OurTurn365 partnered with the A.D. King Foundation during the 2015 nationwide premiere of Selma. After the screening, Rashaad, Tierra and Renita were panelists alongside Civil Rights Icons Naomi Ruth Barber King (wife to the late A.D. King, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s younger brother), Able Mable Thomas and others that were directly involved with the SCLC and SNCC during the Selma to Montgomery march and protests in the 1960’s that led to the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This partnership, 50 years after the signing of the Voting Rights Act, was valued by all involved as its intent was to share wisdom and experience and bridge the generational gap between elders of the Civil Rights Movement and the newest generation of leaders in the Movement’s advancement in the 21 st century.
2015 would prove to be both a great and challenging year for Rashaad. In 2015, a week after the premiere of Selma, his grandmother passed away unexpectedly and three months later, his mother passed away unexpectedly as well. One week later, he was fired from his job and made the hard decision to move to Los Angeles. Once in Los Angeles, he continued to wrestle with life but finally regained his footing and found his way back into the industry as a judge for Project Greenlight and as a reader for the Austin Film Festival. In 2016, he made his debut as an actor in a supporting role in the web series Happy Hour. He produced three short films and partnered with the Los Angeles Public Library for the premiere of his film, Fear Thyself, a short film following the life of a Type-1 diabetic. Not only has he continued to work as a writer and producer, he has worked as a Production Assistant for Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter, Production Manager of a live event entertainment company (in which he was awarded Production Manager of the Year) and also as a Social Media Influencer and Consultant, contributing to a number of film festivals including the Oscar-qualifying Holly Shorts Film Festival, the San Pedro International Film Festival and briefly for the Pembroke Taparelli Arts and Film Festival.
He is working with the NAACP Image Awards and has joined the writer’s room of a new web series created and produced by Alicia Agramonte. He is developing a follow-up to Fear Thyself, to focus on Type 2 diabetes. Rashaad is a member of ARRAY and the Hollywood Diversity Association. Find out more! http://RashaadKing.com

Wendy Dillard "The Entrepreneurial Mindset" on The Erica Glessing Show #2020
Saturday Jan 20, 2018
Saturday Jan 20, 2018
Wendy Dillard
The Entrepreneurial Mindset You see, failure is not bad. But, most of us were not trained to view a failed attempt as a step toward success. But it really is. So, I actually don’t think of the Facebook ad launch as a failure; I think if it as not yet achieving my target – which is really very different than actually failing. Shifting your mindset to re-frame how you view failed results is a huge step in setting your course for a successful business. Be prepared for failed attempts. Don’t focus on failure, but be prepared for it. Understand that a failed attempt will shine a spotlight on the things you hadn’t considered before, thus providing important information for you to make the necessary adjustments to move you toward success. There’s a big distinction here; so it’s important to note: a failed attempt does not make you a failure. Don’t take it personally. It’s not about you. It’s simply part of doing business. While other girls were playing with Dolls or their Easy-Bake ovens, I was playing “Office.”
I remember spending hours organizing office supplies while sitting at my roll-top desk. I loved having all of my supplies arranged neatly within my desk drawers with my pens, pencils, and stapler on top of my desk for quick access. Looking back, this may have been the first clue that I was born to run my own business. My first business was in my teen years when I was sewing for others. And as much as I enjoyed providing my sewing services to my customers, I had equal fun creating the invoices to receive payment for my services. Then with the advent of computers, I spent hours designing my own business cards, flyers and invoices for the miscellaneous businesses I had. And eventually, I even created a business offering my desk-top publishing skills! I’ve always had a small business of some kind. Some of those businesses turned out to be just hobbies because they never produced income (but were incredibly fun anyway). While going to college, I had a dressmaking business to help pay for my college tuition. When choosing a corporate job, I insisted it had to be in an industry that would lend itself to enhancing my skills to take back into my own business one day. So, my first real job was working as an order processor for a fashion designer. When I left that company, I was knowledgeable of the entire manufacturing process which is what gave me the confidence to start my Costume Manufacturing company many years later. I call that the ultimate hands-on training. I’ve also been fascinated by human psychology causing me to embark on a life-long journey of personal development. And since nothing gives me greater pleasure then to teach what I’ve learned, I’ve become an effective communicator, story-teller, and masterful teacher. Therefore, it was a natural path for me to become an Inspirational Life Empowerment Coach as well as a Small Business Consultant, thus incorporating these two passions into my entrepreneurial adventures. What I’ve learned in life is that when you feel happy, the Universe synchronizes all the necessary people, places & things to bring to you whatever you desire. And that’s where I come in because my expertise is in helping you create a mindset that empowers you to where feeling happy becomes your natural state of being. You see, I’m here to empower the SuperWomen & SuperMen of the world who Want It All. So, if the idea of either starting a new business or tweaking the one you have is what you’re seeking and you feel a resonance with me, I invite you to schedule a call with me. Let’s chat for 15-minutes (or more) to stir up your creativity and inspiration. This is at no charge & no strings attached (meaning no sales pitch)… just a conversation… you & me on the phone talking about what’s on your mind (even if it’s not business-related). I don’t bite; I’m quite friendly. And who knows, we might either get you solidly focused on the entrepreneurial path you’ve always dreamed of… or perhaps our conversation could evolve into some other new & wonderful adventure. Reach out to me at Wendy@WendyDillard.com and let’s get the ball rolling. Other ways you can engage with me:

How many points in your life can you identify where you can say if you made a different choice, you would have a different life? The three decisions we make in every moment shapes our future. The important piece of information here is, as you become more aware of your thoughts and focus, you begin to make more conscious choices in these moments. You learn from practice, truly like building any muscle, how to choose your focus and meaning, and how to create the emotional state you desire to have every day. You can choose to deliberately create your future now.
Donna Martuge was born and raised in New York. She went to college for psychology and special education and loves working with children with disabilities and their families. Donna attended Fordham University where she recieved her Doctorate in Education Administration and Leadership. Jennifer Cramer Lewis
Acting on your own awareness in business gives you a stronger platform on which to stand. In today’s marketplace there are dozens of messages every hour sent to us about how “this thing” is the thing that is going to launch your business to the next level, if you just this next super-duper sales funnel, this exact way of approaching your clients, this office, this new modality… the list is endless. When you learn to ask questions to “this thing” you are considering investing in for your business, the awareness that you sense can not only save you money… it could actually make you some too! How does that sound?
#1 International Best Selling Author of 2 Books and counting! As well as her work with singles, couples and families, Jennifer invites you to more possibilities with Wealth, Abundance and Possibilities with her online program called Wealth Blueprint™.
For a free section of this powerful program go to bit.ly/unlockingyou
Jennifer started attending self development courses at sixteen. When the people in her class discovered that she was not an adult, they were surprised and annoyed that she had insight beyond her years. Jennifer used to allow this to mean something about her, that she was too candid, too blunt, too helpful and that it was somehow all too much for the world around her. For many years she dialed it back, dulled it down and tried to stuff herself into the box that everyone around her seemed to fit into so stylishly. Helping people become more aware of what they know about their lives is Jennifer’s full-time job and she couldn’t be happier. Jennifer’s clients laugh when things fly out of her mouth that they have been thinking or feeling for years! Jennifer’s biggest hope for her clients is that they stop looking to the past to create their future and that she can be the catalyst for them creating the life that they always knew was possible and didn’t know how to initiate. Jennifer asks herself everyday, “How did I get so lucky?”
